what is SAMBA? How to configure it in linux server and windows client ??

Samba can be configured on any UNIX operating system to communicate with windows based operating system
It uses SMB/CIFS protocol (Server Message Blocks also known as Common Internet File System)
Open source (freely available under the GNU license)
Features: It consists of two services and four features
SMBD: Server Message Block Daemon
– File & Print Services – shares directory trees and prints, among windows on network
– Authentication and Authorization — Windows Domain authentications
NMBD: NetBIOS Name server provides IP naming service to clients over NetBIOS?
– Name Resolution — DNS/WINS
– Service announcement — Network browsing
